Going Organic

One of my goals is to eat more organic foods. I'm been studying the benefits of an all natural organic diet, and I'm pretty impressed with what I've read so far. I've been a little frustrated with traditional medicine in recent years. It seems all doctors want to do is prescribe another drug. I'm highly allergic to a lot of prescription medications and try to avoid them. I realize some medications are necessary for treating certain conditions, and I'm certainly not going to suggest that people stop going to their doctors or stop taking medication. This is just something I personally am curious about. With my chronic health issues, I figure I have nothing to lose by trying a different approach. The worst that can happen is it won't work and I won't feel any better. Organic eating surely can't hurt anything and it might actually help.

I'm going to see a holistic doctor in the near future. Others have had great success with her regimen of care. I'm fascinated with the organic approach and how certain foods can help certain conditions. Our typical diet contains loads of preservatives and chemicals. I often wonder if a lot of our illnesses aren't triggered by the junk that we ingest in our food.

Since I don't want to waste anything, I'm going to take the month of August to use up my non-organic things in the cupboards and refrigerator. My plan is to start eating totally organic in the month of September to cleanse the chemicals from my body. I know it will take time to see results. I was already told the down side to natural medicine is that it can take up to several months to notice changes. It can cost more to eat organic also, but since I live alone I do have an advantage over someone who has to feed an entire family. I also heard it's normal to feel worse before you feel better when you eliminate the junk from your system. The body has to go through a detox and withdrawal symptoms can occur.

I hope I can stick with it long enough to see if it helps. I just want to feel healthier. And, eating natural and organic definitely promotes weight loss since the diet is based on a lot of fruits and vegetables. I love to create different soups, especially when the weather turns cooler.  Fall is right around the corner, so it will be organic soup season for me!

Anybody else following the organic lifestyle? Please feel free to share the difference it's made in your life.  Tips and recipes are always appreciated also.
