A Prayer for Emotional Eaters

Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for all the times I turned to food for comfort rather than turning to You. Help me to remember that you gave me food for nourishing my physical body. Remind me that food does not heal loneliness, hurt feelings, or depression. You are the Great Physician. You will bring healing and comfort to me in my time of greatest need.
When I feel unloved, remind me of the power of Your everlasting love.
When I feel abandoned and alone, remind me that You will never leave me or forsake me.
When others break promises or break my heart, I can trust in You and know without a doubt that Your word is truth and Your promises will never fail.
I never need to fear that You will let me down. You are ever-present in my life and You love me.
When I feel ugly and unattractive, remind me that You are enthralled by my beauty and that You have engraved my name on the palm of Your hand. Remind me that nobody or nothing can snatch me from Your mighty hands.
When I grow tired and weary from the cares of life, remind me that You are the One who restores my soul.
When I feel poor, remind me of the riches and blessings I have as Your child and the eternal inheritance that is mine because I belong to You, Father.
When I start to stumble, remind me that Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It will guide me in the way I should go.
When I feel tempted, remind me that Your power is at work within me and You will always provide a way out of every temptation.
When I feel weak, help me to be strong and remind me that I can do all things through Your strength.
When I feel it's too hard or impossible to change my old habits, remind me that with You all things are possible and that nothing is too difficult.
Father, help me to remember that my body is not my own, I was bought at a price, and I need to honor You by taking care of my body which is the temple of Your Holy Spirit.
Help me to develop self-control in my life and in the choices I make, so others may see You at work in my life.
Help me to overcome gluttony and binge eating, so I can be healthier and better equipped to do the work You placed me on this earth to do.
Father, when I slip up and fall off track with eating healthy and that old guilty feeling sets in, remind me that You forgive me when I fail and that Your mercies are new every morning.
When I feel let down because of unmet needs or expectations, remind me if I delight myself in You, then You will give me the desires of my heart.
Help me to love You with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength and to put You first in my life above all other things. Help me remember that You are enough and to rest assured that You will supply my every need.

In Jesus' name, Amen
