I Choose Joy

I've battled with feelings of loneliness and depression a lot lately. Winter has been cold and dreary and the nights long.  I was listening to the radio while I took a bath this evening and the speaker was talking about choosing joy no matter what. It was just what I needed to hear. It's easy to confuse joy and happiness but they are very different. Happiness depends on our surroundings and whether things are going our way. Joy is a peace and contentment regardless of what is happening around us. 

We don't have to allow life's circumstances to get us down. We can choose joy. Joy comes from knowing we are secure in Christ. We have hope and a reason to rejoice even when life doesn't turn out quite like we expected it would. I am choosing joy! I will continue to believe and trust in God for the future even when it doesn't make sense.
